Walleye are the top sought after Sport fish of most anglers.

Its understandable cause they provide a very good challenge to catch and a good fight and they

taste even better!

However they can be a little tricky and picky to catch sometimes,

Here is a few simply tips to make those walleye trips a success.

Tip # 01 Know your Lake!

This is gotta be one of the most important keys when walleye fishing..

If you dont know your lake ask around abit advise to live by..

If its a new lake i would say troll a bit untill you land into one and make note of the area

where you picked up on a bite..

The walleye hang in schools wheres thier one thiers more..

Tip #2 Best times to fish Walleye

Fishing the evening time to dead of night is prime time for Walleye..

Fishing on a sunny day could mean nothing unless your in the deep where the depth of the water
filters the suns rays, The walleye have nocturnial eyes simular to Cat..

I find Walleye kinda like trout they like the cool cloudy overcast days best..

Tip #3 Best bait for walleye

I like the following bait below


Worms ,

live or dead minnows,

leeches, sometimes frogs produce well..


Dont get me wrong rapalas in some areas will produce better than bait

its just matter of the time of year and water conditions..

You know i seen on a lake i fished for years the walleye wanted the bait completely still and

suspended just lil . Thier had to be no movement at all so in that case rapalas wouldnt cut it..



Ok lets move on to lure color and rubber jigs the all time favorite for Walleye.

*Tip #4 LURE COLOR

Heres my recomendations:


YELLOW JIGS SINGLE TAIL OR DOUBLE .. I prffer MR TWISTER brand
WHITE JIGS
GREEN JIGS
ORANGE JIGS
BLACK JIGS
BLUE Rare

Fishing tip from a old grumpy angler!

Everyone wants to catch more fish!..

However not everyone has the time or has been past down the knowledge of what lures to use ect..

For instance say your fishing a new lake and you know thiers pike and walleye in there mostly

and maybe a few perch ect.. What lures to use for them?

Sometimes fishing can get tricky u know ..

So naturaly you would take a glance at the lakes water is it cloudy? murky?weedy?deep or shallow? Is the sun shining is it evening or after noon, morning?
The factors can go on and on!!
If you took everything into consideration you would be taking all dang day just to pick out the right lure!! AND NOT FISHING!

When really matching the size of the lure might be the most important factor than anything else..
Next time your out try it .. have a few different sized lures of different colors and few the same size lures try them all and see if matters the color compared to size,, if they you start to catch on one they will catch on the other of total different color but the same size..

Color is important dont get me wrong,, but trying different sized lures first to find out whats working will mean more fish than trying to pick out the right color right away,,

Start casting away dont just cast 4 times and think thats not the right size ,,, Give it a while for each size lure and with some different retrieves aswell make that lure work to its full potential!..

why im so caught up with lure size is i have been fishing for years and years and i noticed

Its all about matching the lures to the size prey or baitfish the sportfish are eating in the lake that day.

ITS THAT SIMPLE!

And it doesnt have to be perfect shape either ,,,

Finding that right sized lure will increase your catch garenteed!
